Chris Paul

1. Chris Paul - New Orleans
Chris Paul had a monster year in every way possible and was the heart
and soul of the Hornets. He very nearly won the MVP award and will
definitely be the first PG scooped up in your Fantasy Basketball
draft. He will help you in every category you would expect from
a PG and his rebounds are reaching Eddy Curry territory. He lead
the NBA in assists and steals and averaged over 20 points and 10
assists per game, he is the epitome of a true point guard. It is
hard to find a knock on him, he doesn't have to carry the load for
the team since they have David West and Peja Stojakovic to pick
up slack. So, he will put up good shots and not force things ala
Allen Iverson. He is a top 5 pick overall in any basketball draft.
2008 Statistics:
21.1 Pts - 4.0 Reb - 11.6 Ast
2009 Projection:
20.4 Pts - 4.7 Reb - 12.8 Ast
2. Deron Williams- Utah
On top of those stats, Williams shot over 50%, near 40% from
the land of plenty, and over 80% at the charity stripe. He is
a great passer who can and will attack the basket when necessary.
His high shooting percentages will help those in leagues where
you get points for higher percentages. He has plenty of help on
the Jazz and will pick his spots to score but he should hover
near 20 PPG and 10 APG for a while.
2008 Statistics:
18.8 Pts - 3.0 Reb - 10.5 Ast
2009 Projection:
19.7 Pts - 3.4 Reb - 11.7 Ast
3. Steve Nash- Phoenix
This is the year Nash will decline and it has to do with Shawn
Marion leaving town. He got so many assists by dumping it to Marion
on fast breaks and alley oops and I can't remember the last time
i saw Shaq run down the court and throw one down on an alley oop.
Though I believe he will continue to hit a high percentage of
his threes due to teams double teaming Shaq, his scoring will
decrease this season but he is still a top fantasy PG.
2008 Statistics:
16.9 Pts - 3.5 Reb - 11.1 Ast
2009 Projection:
14.3 Pts - 3.1 Reb - 9.1 Ast
4. Jason Kidd- Dallas
Although I still believe the Mavs gave up way too much to get Kidd,
he will still be a triple-double threat whenever he takes the floor.
He always grabs more boards than most guards and even some forwards
and he will bring value to your team with those boards. His scoring
went down after the trade but that should go up after getting acclimated
to the Mavs offense. Also, he still continues to pick pocket ball
handlers and averages about a steal and a half per game.
2008 Statistics:
10.8 Pts - 7.5 Reb - 10.1 Ast
2009 Projection:
12.5 Pts - 7.1 Reb - 9.5 Ast
5. Baron Davis - LA Clippers
B-Diddy is going to a team that will be lacking in the scoring
department now that Corey Maggette and Elton Brand are gone. He
is one of the highest scoring PGs and that trend will continue
but I think his assist total will drop by the very fact that this
is a way different team than the one he is leaving. Hopefully,
Baron Davis will inject some life into this team and maybe they
can become a scoring machine that he turned the Warriors into.
2008 Statistics:
21.8 Pts - 4.7 Reb - 7.6 Ast
2009 Projection:
24.2 Pts - 4.3 Reb - 7.0 Ast

6. Allen Iverson - Denver
I see A.I's scoring average drop due to the emergence of Linas Kleiza
but he will still score over 20PPG and have his occasional 40 point
night. The biggest improvement AI has made since going to Denver
is the improvement in his shooting percentages. This bodes well
for fantasy players and his APG should receive a little bump as
well.
2008 Statistics:
26.4 Pts - 3.0 Reb - 7.1 Ast
2009 Projection:
22.5 Pts - 3.2 Reb - 7.7 Ast
7. Tony Parker- San Antonio
Tony Parker has been very consistent the last 3 years with his averages
per game and that will continue with the added bonus of him finally
averaging over 20PPG. This is mostly due to Duncan slowly declining.
His 3pt percentage was horrible ( 26%) and that should improve but
he will never hit more than 100 per season. His assist total is
pedestrian for a PG but his point total make him a viable player
on your fantasy team this season. Also, he played less than 70 games
last season but overall, has been a healthy player throughout his
career.
2008 Statistics:
18.8 Pts - 3.2 Reb - 6.0 Ast
2009 Projection:
20.2 Pts - 4.6 Reb - 6.0 Ast
