Houston Texans 2010 Wide Receiver Preview
Andre Johnson
Johnson has everything you want in a fantasy receiver. He has a
good quarterback throwing to him (Matt Schaub), he gets a ton of
catches (216 in the last two seasons), and he gets big yards (3,144
yards in the last two seasons). The only number that is average
is his 17 touchdowns in the last two seasons. Even with the average
touchdown numbers, there is no doubt that Johnson is the best fantasy
receiver over the last two years and therefore the number one coming
into 2010.
The Houston Texan offense as a whole looks good coming into 2010
and that should keep the big numbers coming for Johnson owners.
Quarterback Matt Schaub continues to grow and build a rapport with
Johnson. There is just enough help with second receiver Kevin Walters
and tight end Owen Daniel's to take the pressure of Johnson, but
not enough to take away looks.
The offensive line blocked very well for Schaub as they gave up
only 25 sacks all season. This is key to Andre Johnson's success.
If 2008 #1 pick tackle Duane Brown can progress, the line could
become an above average line and this can mean another healthy year
for Schaub. The Texans added depth by signing veteran free agent
guard Wade Smith. Protecting Schaub will be the key to his fantasy
success and he still needs another big season to prove he is not
injury-prone.
