Arizona Cardinals 2010 Running Back Preview
Beanie Wells
Wells will be a difficult one to gauge in the preseason because
of the retirement of of star quarterback Kurt Warner as well as
the departure of wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Clearly the Cardinals
will not be the same pass happy team they were with Matt Leinart
which should mean more of a run game, but could also mean less scoring.
A lot of Well's success will be tied to Leinart's success.
Tim Hightower had a very good season both as a goal line back and
a receiver out of the backfield. He will continue to play a prominent
role in the Cardinal offense, especially as the feature goal line
back, but it is also clear that Wells was taking over as the clear
number one back in the second half of the season and in the playoffs
in 2009.
The Cardinal's offensive line got a big shot in the arm with the
signing of All-Pro guard Alan Faneca. He and Levi Brown will open
holes on the left side for any Cardinal running back.
