Denver Broncos 2010 Wide Receiver Preview
Brandon Marshall
It is amazing how similar Brandon Marshall and Wes Welker are statistically
and yet so different mentally and physically. The 6-4 Marshall too
has three consecutive 100 catch seasons, but the difference is Marshall
can be a play-maker. He has the potential to put up Andre Johnson
type numbers. Yet mentally Marshall has a lot of growing to do and
thus carries some risk at all times.
The biggest question that surrounds Marshall is his move to the
Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are putting together a pretty good
team starting with 2008 second-round pick quarterback Chad Henne.
As a first year starter he threw for 2,878 yards in 14 games with
12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He must take a step up in 2010
for Marshall to dream of Johnson type numbers.
The Dolphins had decent receivers before acquiring Marshall with
Greg Camarillo and Davone Bess and solid tight end play from Anthony
Fasano, but none of them are good enough to take away from looks
from Marshall.
The hope in Miami is that Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown provide
a strong run game while Brandon Marshall helps Chad Henne become
a legitimate NFL quarterback. If that happens another 100 plus reception
season will be inline for Marshall.
