Philadelphia Eagles 2010 Wide Receiver Preview
DeSean Jackson
One of the most exciting players in the NFL comes into his "magical"
third year as a receiver and big things are expected from him. With
Jackson you get a player who can score every time he touches the
ball, and that includes punt returns. He averaged 15.2 yards a return
with two more touchdowns in the return game and added yet another
137 yards and a 13th touchdown via the run game.
2009 #1 pick, Jeremy Maclin, had an excellent rookie year catching
55 passes for 762 yards and four touchdowns while tight end Brent
Celek caught 76 passes for 961 yards and eight touchdowns. So there
are plenty of targets in Philadelphia to keep the heat off of Jackson.
The loss of looks shouldn't hurt him, after all, he is the big-play
man and not a possession PPR receiver.
The bigger question will be the play of new starting Philly quarterback,
Kevin Kolb. The second-round pick in the 2007 draft is the first
quarterback to throw for over three hundred yards in his first two
starts, so the hopes are high that he will be a big-time fantasy
quarterback. More importantly, Jackson caught 10 passes for 250
yards and two touchdowns in Kolb's two starts, so they seem to already
have a good connection.
