Philadelphia Eagles 2010 Running Back Preview
LeSean McCoy
McCoy was drafted in the third-round out of Pittsburgh as a Sophomore
in hopes to backup and eventually replace Brain Westbrook. Well
the time is already here and McCoy will be given every chance to
be the next Westbrook. This should get fantasy owners excited, especially
because he is still somewhat off the fantasy radar.
McCoy has the quick burst and soft hands necessary to fit right
into Andy Reid's offense. The one glaring problem McCoy had as a
rookie was his pass-blocking. Sounds minor in the fantasy world,
but he will not make it too long if he can't pick up the blitz and
help protect the quarterback.
The Eagles did sign former Saint Mike Bell as insurance, a backup
and a likely goal line back. Bell should not be a serious threat
to McCoy's starting job nor should it be a two-back-attack. Nevertheless,
goal line carries for McCoy are likely to be rare (Not to mention
fullback Leonard Weaver).
Of course the big change in Philly is Kevin Kolb taking over the
offense at quarterback. There should be little change because quite
simply Kolb looks like the real deal, but if anything a young quarterback
will lean a bit more on the run game.
There is not much to speak of with the offensive line after Pro
Bowler Jason Peters, it is a group of no-namers who play very average
and this doesn't help any back in the Philly backfield.
