Pittsburgh Steelers 2010 Running Back Preview
Rashard Mendenhall
Once the job was finally given to Mendenhal in 2009, he never looked
back finishing with 1,108 yards and seven touchdowns, making him
one of the best sleepers of 2009.
Mendenhall's talent is no surprise though. As a junior at Illinois
he rushed for a school record 1,681 and 17 touchdowns and was drafted
in the first-round by the Steelers.
Coming into 2010 the Steelers will be without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
for the first six weeks and that will probably give Mendenhall a
bigger role in the offense. Not to mention running back Willie Parker
has moved on to Washington.
The bad news is the already weak offensive line lost the best player
in tackle Willie Colon for the season. The only good news in the
off season for Mendenhall is the Steelers did draft guard Maurkice
Pouncey with their first pick. He will not be enough to give to
Steelers an above average line and that should be a cause for concern
for Mendenhall investors.
