New York Jets 2010 Running Back Preview
Shonn Greene
Who ever starts in the New York Jets backfield is a guaranteed 1,000
yard rusher. Look at 2009 starter Thomas Jones who rushed for 1,402
yards and 14 touchdowns. There is no reason that Shonn Greene can
replicate that performance if given the carries.
The reason for the great running numbers in New York is the Jet
offensive line. It is amongst the best in run blocking (4.6 yards
per carry) and even though the Jets lost veteran guard veteran Alan
Faneca they still have a great line. The Jets did select guard Vladimir
Ducasse with their #2 pick in the 2010 draft and he will compete
with Matt Slauson for the starting spot. Either way Pro Bowler D’Brickashaw
Ferguson, who just signed a contract extension, will dominate the
left side of the line which ever guard is next to him.
The Jets have brought in LaDainian Tomlinson, but he is far past
his days of glory and will likely be a serviceable backup and a
good third-down back who will give them a two-back-attack, but with
Greene as the major force.
