New England Patriots 2010 Wide Receiver Preview
Wes Welker
Pretty simple here. If you are in points per reception league, Welker
is among the best over the last three years catching an amazing
346 passes for 3,688 yards and 15 touchdowns which is an average
of 115 catches 1,230 yards and five touchdowns. Yes the touchdown
numbers are very low, but the reception numbers are off the charts.
Welker actually missed two games in 2009, otherwise he would have
probably topped 140 receptions and 1,500 yards which would be unreal
in a PPR league.
Having Randy Moss on the other side is nothing but a major plus.
Yes Moss gets the touchdowns and yes Moss is a much more talented
receiver, but all that does is draw the double coverage to Moss
and allows the 5'9 Welker to sneak over the middle and make ten
yards catches almost at will.
Naturally having one of the best quarterbacks, Tom Brady, throwing
to Welker, is a huge plus. Especially the fact that they have developed
such great rhythm together. You can fill very confident that you
will get your money's worth when drafting Wes Welker high in your
draft.
