Fantasy Hockey Player Rankings & Projections
2009 - 2010 Center Preseason Preview
Jonathan Toews
|
 |
The arrival of Marian Hossa should
help the young players numbers in Chicago and provide a
real chance to go back to the Conference Finals. |
7. Jonathan Toews - Blackhawks - 2009 Preview:
Welcome to the new and improved Blackhawks. Surely, Hossa will spend
some time flanking Toews of the wing this year and that improves
any player's numbers. The young crop in Pittsburgh has been getting
more press, but the Blackhawks have some serious talent. Toews,
now 21, is a year wiser and stronger. You add Hossa to the mix and
his fantasy value has to improve.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 34 - Assists 35 - Pts. 69
2009 -10 Projection:
Goals 33 - Assists 51 - Pts .84
8. Derick Brassard - Blue Jackets - 2009
Preview:
Brassard is one of the top sleepers this year and cracks the top
ten as far as centers go. Last season, he posted 25 points in 31
games for Columbus. Brassard appears to be the top line center for
the Blue Jackets this season, which will give him plenty of ice
time and a winger like Huselius and or Nash to help with the stats.
2008
- 09 Statistics Goals 10 - Assists

2009 -10
Projection: Goals 30 - Assists
51 - Pts. 81
9. Pavel Datsyuk - Red Wings - 2009 Preview:
Another 90 plus season for the leader of the Red Wings. Detroit
hasn't lost too many pieces and always seem to have others waiting
in line to be the next star. Datsyuk and company are poised for
another cup run this season and will be lead by their verteran offensive
leader Pavel Datsyuk. Perhaps not 97 points this season, but still
top ten material.

10. Joe Thorton - Sharks - 2009 Preview:
This is fantasy hockey, so forget the fact the Sharks haven't the
slightest clue on how to win in the playoffs. I'm absolutely blown
away by how this team still starts and finishes the regular season
despite being greatly disappointed every year in the playoffs. Thorton
will continue to do what he does best and that's set up scoring
opportunities for his teammates. He'll be among the leaders and
in assists yet again.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 25 - Assists 61 - Pts. 86
2009 -10
Projection: Goals 23 - Assists
57 - Pts. 80
Best of The Rest
Olli Jokinen - Flames - 2009 Preview:
Jokinen is finally out of Florida and on a very solid Calgary Flames
team. He's used to flying under the radar a bit in Florida, which
certainly won't be the case in his new home. The one thing that
relieves pressure is producing points. That's why they went out
and got him and he'll be expected to be contributing on a regular
basis. 15 pts. in 19 games with the Flames. Expect more than his
57 points he tallied last season.
Jason Spezza - Senators - 2009 Preview:
Ottawa is a mess right now. Heatley wants out, but doesn't seem
to be going, Kovalev is certainly talented, but his passion has
been questioned his whole career and now they have a new coaching
staff. 73 points last season and a minus 14. Expect around the same
numbers this year.
Mike Richards - Flyers - 2009 Preview:
30 goals and 80 points last year for the new face of Philadelphia
hockey. I don't see Richards obtaining many more than 80 points
per year, but he should get around 70 again.
