Fantasy Hockey Player Rankings & Projections
2008 Left Wing Preseason Preview
Henrik Zetterberg
|
 |
Detroit never seems to be short of talent and they certainly won't be this either. |
7. Henrik Zetterberg - Redwings - 2008 Preview:
Zetterberg had a carreer year in Hockey Town last season
while helping the Wings secure another cup to their collection.
Hossa now joins the already immensely talented Detroit team. Henrik's
numbers will still be solid and you can always count on a strong
number in the plus/minus department. The wealth has to be spread
a bit further for forwards in Detroit next year and I suspect Zetterberg's
point total will dip a bit.
2007 - 08 Statistics:
Goals 43 - Assists 49 - Pts. 92
2008 - 09 Projection:
Goals 31 - Assists 44 - Pts. 75
8. Alex Tanguay - Canadiens - 2008 Preview:
Tanguay wears the coveted Canadien sweater this season and
with wearing it comes high expectations. Players coming to Montreal
are expected to take their game to a new level and often they do.
Montreal has seen Alexei Kovalev skate as if he really wants to
win each night. Tanguay's totals will rise this season in every
category a fantasy owner wants to see.
2007 - 08 Statistics:
Goals 18 - Assists 40 - Pts. 58
2008 - 09
Projection: Goals
26- Assists 47 - Pts. 73
9. Daniel Sedin - Canucks - 2008 Preview:
The last three seasons we have seen Sedin put up solid fantasy
hockey numbers. His peak has probably come but I wouldn't expect
a huge drop in porduction. If the Canucks can play a bit more disciplined,
it would add value to Sedin's stock in terms of the plus/minus rating.
2007 - 08 Statistics:
Goals 29 - Assists 45 - Pts. 74
2008 - 09
Projection: Goals
21 - Assists 45 - Pts. 66
10. Alexander Frolov - Kings - 2008 Preview:
The Kings have a nice corps of talent skating on their side
now. The west is extremely competitive and the Kings are now part
of that equation. Frolov managed 67 points while skating in only
71 games. If the games played improves so should the point total.
His plus 1 rating has the chance to improve as well as the Kings
win more games.
2007 - 08 Statistics:
Goals 23 - Assists 44 - Pts. 67
2008 - 09
Projection: Goals
27- Assists 43 - Pts.70

Best of The Rest
Pavel Datsyuk - Red Wings - 2008 Preview:
Its hard to believe the Red Wings actually have some youth on there
team but they do and it starts with Datsyuk. Remember, anyone under
35 in Detroit is considered young. Datsyuk's playmaking ability
is uncanny. He registered a plus/minus of +36 last season to go
longside his 87 points. Its time for Zetterberg and Datsyuk to take
over for the storied franchise and expect just that for the up coming
season.
Jason Spezza - Senators - 2008 Preview:
Spezza has managed a 90 point season in 05-06 and an 87 point season
in 06-07 while playing in less than 70 games in each season. He turned
24 years old this June and should be healthy at the beginning of
the season. So long as he stays healthy, he should post big numbers
for the third consecutive year. Ottawa's offensive has been lethal
and Spezza will continue to put up big numbers for the Sens.
Olli Jokinen - Panthers - 2008 Preview:
Olli plays for a bad Florida team and still puts up numbers you
can't ignore. If the Finnish born Jokinen was on just about any
other team, he would be a household name to even non hockey fans.
He's got consecutive 90+ point seasons and somehow has stayed better
than +14 the last two seasons.
