2009 - 2010 Left Wing Preseason Preview
Thomas Vanek
|
 |
If Vanek can stay healthy 40 goals is a realistic number.. |
7. Thomas Vanek - Sabres - 2009 Preview:
So he's a bit of a wild card, but most fantasy owners are
gamblers. Vanek put up another 40 goal season on a team that didn't
make the playoffs. Buffalo won't stay out of the mix for long and
because of skaters like Vanek. The ship is turning in western New
York and its due in part because of Vanek. If he plays 75 games
or more you can bet on 40 more goals and over 30 assists this season.
Last season's +/- of -1 should increase, too.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 40 - Assists 24- Pts. 64
2009 - 10
Projection: Goals 42 - Assists
33 - Pts. 75
8. Rick Nash - Blue Jackets - 2009 Preview:
Rick Nash isn't a fossil yet! Colombus is on the rise with
youngster Derick Brassard and a net minder named Mason who you may
have heard of. Nash had a fantastic year last season putting in
40 goals. I don't see 40 going in this year but his assists may
blow up and the production will solid once again for fantasy owners.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 40 - Assists 39 - Pts. 79
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 27 - Assists 47 - Pts. 74
9. Patrick Elias - Devils - 2009 Preview:
Another 30 plus goal season for the Devil's veteran. New
Jersey isn't the most exciting team, but here we are with the second
Devil in the top ten of left wings. There are some worries of the
boring Devils' coming back with theri form coach taking contro,
but there should be no worries for fantasy owners. A left wing lock
was deployed in Pittsburgh two years ago, and fantasy owners still
hit homeruns with guys like Sykora. Elias is good for another 30
gaol 40 assists season in Jersey.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 31 - Assists 47 - Pts. 78
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 30 - Assists 43 - Pts. 73
10. Simon Gagne - Flyers - 2009 Preview:
Gagne was healthy all season and showed why he is a huge
part of the future in Philly. He posted 30 plus goals and 40 assists.
Obviously, Philly is trying to find their missing peices to the
puzzle, as they picked up Pronger this off season. Gagne should
see 30 plus goals this season as well.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 31 - Assists 40 - Pts. 71
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 33- Assists 36 - Pts. 69

Best of The Rest
Pavel Datsyuk - Red Wings - 2009 Preview:
Its hard to believe the Red Wings actually have some youth on there
team but they do and it starts with Datsyuk. Remember, anyone under
35 in Detroit is considered young. Datsyuk's playmaking ability
is uncanny. He registered a plus/minus of +36 last season to go
longside his 87 points. Its time for Zetterberg and Datsyuk to take
over for the storied franchise and expect just that for the up coming
season.
Jason Spezza - Senators - 2009 Preview:
Ottawa was a bit of mess right now with the Dany Heatley saga, which
makes Spezza the young poster boy in Ottawa.
