Fantasy Hockey Player Rankings & Projections
2009 - 2010 Left Wing Preseason Preview
Alexander Ovechkin
|
 |
The number one left wing in
the game isn't going to change anytime soon. Another 50
goal season in 2009 - 10?. |
1. Alexander Ovechkin - Capitals - 2009 Preview:
Ovechkin's determination is equal to that of Crosby's. He's
certainly not satisfied with the team's exit in the second round
of the playoffs and will come out of the gates with a real purpose.
Goals usually earn more points in fantasy hockey and this is the
guys who will net the most. There's no reason to believe Ovie doesn't
get another 50 this season.
2008 - 09 Statistics:
Goals 56 - Assists 54 - Pts. 110
2009 - 10 Projection:
Goals 52 - Assists 59 - Pts. 111
2. Zach Parise - Devils - 2009 Preview:
Parise had an unbelievable sophomore year netting 45 goals.
New Jersey still has a solid crop of players and Parise is their
rising star. Last year was no fluke and fantasy owners should begin
getting used to hearing this guys name.
2008
- 09 Statistics: Goals
45 - Assists 49 - Pts. 94
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 42 - Assists 61 - Pts. 103
3. Alexander Semin - Capitals - 2009 Preview:
The Caps are set to make big waves again and Semin is a
huge part of this high scoring offense. For fantasy owners, he adds
value for his time spent on the power play and at even strength.
The addition of Knuble and Morrison to the line up should help add
to everyone's point total.
2008
- 09 Statistics: Goals
34 - Assists 45 - Pts. 79
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 37 - Assists 59 - Pts. 96
4 .Ilya Kovalchuck - Canadiens - 2009 Preview:
This is one of the most pure goal scorers in the NHL. Not everyone
can be Ovechkin, however Kovalchuck is just a notch behind him.
If Atlanta would bring in some free agent talent and compliment
it with a few home grown guys, the organization would be a mirror
image of the Capitals. Well, that's not the case in Atlanta, but
for fantasy owners, they still have one of the most productive fantsy
players in Kovalchuck. Plus, gives anyone a good reason to see what
Atlanta has done each during the season.
2008
- 09 Statistics: Goals
43 - Assists 48 - Pts. 82
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 48 - Assists 46 - Pts. 94

5. Daniel Sedin - Canucks - 2009 Preview:
Going by the numbers, Sedin has to be in my number five
slot. There is always the issue of injury to his brother. Yes...his
brother. These two are on the ice doing it together, so fantasy
owners have to worry about two guys staying healthy instead of just
the one the pick.
2008
- 09 Statistics: Goals
31 - Assists 51 - Pts. 82
2009
- 10 Projection:
Goals 35 - Assists 49 - Pts.84
6. Michael Cammalleri - Canadiens - 2009 Preview:
Montreal has made many moves this off season and Cammalleri is one
of the strongest. Montreal's media frenzy will be quite more than
he's seen in L.A. and Calgary, but I suspect Cammalleri will be
one who succeeds in Montreal. His numbers are becoming steadily
solid and he will be one of the go to guys for the Habs. Look for
possible career highs this year from Cammalleri.
2008
- 09 Statistics: Goals
39 - Assists 43 - Pts. 82
2009

Goals 34 - Assists 49 - Pts. 83
