2009 Power Forward Preseason Preview
Amare Stoudemire

1. Amare Stoudemire - Phoenix
Amare Stoudemire is going to have a big year and swapping Marion
out for Shaq will be the reason. Now teams will have to help Shaq's
defender and leave him to roam. I expect a huge year all around
from him. Oh, and having that Nash guy as your PG helps a lot.
2008 Statistics:
25.2 Pts - 9.1 Reb - 1.5 Ast
2009 Projection:
27.9 Pts -10.1 Reb - 2.0 Ast
2. Tim Duncan - San Antonio
Duncan is as steady as she goes. I have him pegged for another
20/10 season and another nice playoff run. He has been pretty healthy
his whole career and Popovich knows how to rest and get the best
of out Duncan on a nightly basis. Duncan still is good over nearly
2 blocks a game. He's as solid as they come.
2008 Statistics:
19.3 Pts - 11.3 Reb - 2.8 Ast
2009 Projection:
20.3 Pts - 10.7 Reb - 3.2 Ast
3. Antawn Jamison - Washington
Jamison had the type of season the Wizards were hoping once they
knew Arenas was going to be out for most of the season. Arenas
is back but Jamison should still hover around 20PPG and 10RPG.
Jamison also adds a dimension that few PFs have, the ability to
knock down the 3 and over a steal a game. He would be a welcome
addition to any starting 5.
2008 Statistics: 21.4
Pts - 10.2 Reb - 1.5 Ast
2009 Projection:
19.2 Pts - 10.2 Reb - 2.2 Ast
4. Chris Bosh - Toronto
Bosh will get some frontcourt help with fellow big man Jermaine
O'Neal joining the team. This will help him get free and let him
hit some 10-15 foot jumpers. Of course, Bosh needs to stay on the
court to reap the benefits of having another skilled big man on
his line. Besides fantasy owners, the Raptors need him to play 75+
games to contend in the east. Bosh has been to 3 straight All-Star
games and I expect that streak to continue.
2008 Statistics:
22.3 Pts - 8.7 Reb - 2.6 Ast
2009 Projection:
23.2 Pts - 9.4 Reb - 2.8 Ast

5. Carlos Boozer - Utah
Boozer has become a legitimate 20 and 10 guy for the Jazz and
should continue to be one for the next couple of years. He is
everything you look for in a PF, both in real life and in fantasy
basketball. He is blessed to be in a perfect situation, he has
Deron Williams running the point, and excellent defender in Andrei
Kirilenko. This enables him to not have to guard the opposing team's
best interior player. Also, he has Mehmet Okur who clears the
lane for him by stepping out and hitting the 3. Plug Boozer into
the lineup and you're bound to get 20 and 10 for the next half-decade.
2008 Statistics:
21.1 Pts - 10.4 Reb - 2.9 Ast
2009 Projection:
21.0 Pts - 11.5 Reb - 3.2 Ast
6. Pau Gasol - Lakers
Gasol is on the Lakers, good for him, not as great for his owners.
Gone are the days of him averaging 20PPG but his FG% shot up to
nearly 60% once he got traded to Kobe's team. This will happen when
Kobe is constantly getting double-teamed. I could see Gasol getting
over the 20 point plateau if Bynum doesn't comeback healthy but
reports say he's near 100% with his rehab. He definitely has lost
fantasy value due to his team change but should still be a solid
mid-round pick.
2008 Statistics:
18.9 Pts - 8.4 Reb - 3.5 Ast
2009 Projection:
18.2 Pts - 8.3 Reb - 3.6 Ast
