2008 Right Wing Preseason Preview
Dany Heatley

If only Brett Hull could pass
and hit, then we could compare Heatley to him! |
1. Jarome Iginla - Flames - 2008 Preview:
Iginla nearly capped the 100 point mark last season with
another incredible season had for the Flames. Along with nearly
getting 100 points he earned a plus 27 rating. Another obvious top
choice for every fantasy owner
.
2006 Statistics:
Goals 50 - Assists 48 - Pts. 98
2008 Projection:
Goals 46 - Assists 46 - Pts. 92
2. Marian Gaborik - Wild - 2008 Preview:
The Wild may not strike people as a scoring powerhouse but
Gaborik certainly is. Last year he ranked 7th overall in goals and
was tied 12th overall in points. The Wild we continue to push this
season and try to last a little longer in the race for the cup.
2006 Statistics:
Goals 42 - Assists 41 - Pts. 83
2008 Projection:
Goals 37 - Assists 44 - Pts. 81
3. Daniel Alfredsson - Senators - 2008 Preview:
Until Alfredsson quits scoring a ton, I will continue to
have him ranked as one of the best. Last year he posted 89 points
while playing in only 70 games. The Senators may have fallen apart
at the end of the season due to his absence. When Alfredsson plays
he scores. Bottom line. The plus/minus rating should atleast be
decent, however two seasons ago he managed a whopping plus 42!
2006 Statistics:
Goals 40 - Assists 49 - Pts. 89
2008 Projection:
Goals 36 - Assists 50 - Pts. 86
4. Marion Hossa - Redwings - 2008 Preview:
When you know how to score and then you sign on with the
Wings your stock naturually rises. Hossa's plus/minus of -14 was
picked up before he headed north to Pittsburgh. Hossa is a very
solid two way player despite the plus/minus ratings. He's been stuck
on a poor team lately before departing to Pittsburgh and now he's
in Hockey Town on a one year contract. He will produce more this
year as far as points and undoubtedly plus/minus as well.
2006 - 07 Statistics:
Goals 29 - Assists 37 - Pts. 66
2008 - 08 Projection:
Goals 39 - Assists 41 - Pts. 80

5. Martin St. Louis - Lightning - 2008
Preview:
Hopefully the Lightning have found there answer for stopping
the puck. This year they wil be skating Ryane Malone, Gary Roberts,
and Mark Recchi. Malone may be the one who realistically finds
some ice time with St. Louis. Malone can opend things up for a
smaller quicker forward (such as one Sydney Crosby) which gives
them more time to make plays. They got Melrose, veterans, and
a new look in the net this year and that should help the plus/minus
rating.
2006 Statistics:
Goals 25 - Assists 58 - Pts. 83
2008 Projection:
Goals 30 - Assists 55 - Pts. 85
4. Martin St. Louis - Lightning - 2008
Preview:
Marty hade a fantastic season last year racking up 102 points.
In doing so he earned career highs in goals, assists, and
points. It will be difficult to match or exceed those numbers,
however the Lightning are experienced team looking to dance
with Lord Stanely's Cup one more time. He's not going to
ever earn many penalty minutes and the plus/minus has been
modest at best with the exception of the cup year when he
ended +35.
2006 - 07 Statistics:
Goals 43 - Assists 59 - Pts. 102
2008 - 08 Projection:
Goals 43 - Assists 61 - Pts. 104
7. Daniel Alfredsson - Senators - 2008
Preview:
Afredsson has been posting great numbers for years now.
Last year he was an amazing + 42 which can add real value
to your fantasy roster. The Ottowa team is loaded with talent
and there is no sighn of the 34 yearld winger slowing down.
The Senators score often enough to help keep Alfredsson's
plus/minus above 20 if not 40 again.
2006 Statistics:
Goals 29 - Assists 58 - Pts. 87
2008 Projection:
Goals 33 - Assists 61 - Pts. 94
